At its lowest point of the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down by over 250 points.

The selling began after the People's Bank of China failed to alleviate concerns that its economy was walking into a banking crisis. China's Shanghai Composite got slammed, falling into a bear market.
Meanwhile, interest rates have been surging. The 10-year Treasury rate went north of 2.6% for the first time in years.
